Top dragsters & NOS

After reading the new Turbo I have some questions that if anybody has the answers to I would love to hear them. I have realized that none of the top FWD dragsters like Kubo, Papdakis, Bergenholtz, and Jotech use NOS for that extra little boost. Not as an intercooler nor as a direct means of hp gain. Why is this? Turbo and NOS are two veryt sketchy subjects for me but this question has been in my head for a bit. I mean if these guys/girl are in some cases stroking 1.6 to 2.0 liters and doing all kinds of other radical mods the the internals to squeeze the power, why not built or tune it just a little bit more to hold it together with the Blue bottle in-tow? Any thoery's or suggestions on the answer are greatly appreciated. Thanks

NOS isn't respected, that's all. People have more respect for your setup if you run a time without NOS rather than with. It's all about bragging rights and respect, that's all. That's how I see it anyway. Cause it's a lot harder to get better times without NOS, its more of a challenge.

also for many of the top guys power isnt the problem. its traction thats the problem for most of em. Thats what i read in one magazine where they swapped that prelude engine (madrid's) making 700hp or something out for a 1.8 engine making like 500. they said it had too much torque for the light body and was ripping up slicks in 4th.. THATs what i read in a magazine so try not to flame me. Im just the messenger.. i dont really understand it either..

It's Nitrous not NOS, NOS is a company. Nitrous is respected, it is just like a turbo or supercharger. Many don't use it as they are with a different setup. Jotech has it installed on they're car. It is just like the man said, about traction and conditions, as well as other things, sometimes they just forget to hit it.. Running a 9 sec car isn't a easy thing.. Top fuel dragsters use nitrous like they use fuel.. everytime..

Kenny of Jotech does'nt run Nitrous in his car. Kenny will tell you that he hates it because it so inconsistant. He dont even sell it or install it. Ask him about it and he'll tell you he dont use, recomend it, or sell it.
He dont use NOS, Nitrous Xpress, or Nitrous or what ever you want to call it.

The top cars do NOT use nitrous because of its inconsistencies... a car that powerful has enough traction problems without the nitrous variable added in... and being consistent is what WINS races, not who has been the very fastest... just once in a while !!!
JoJo Callos is certainly not the fastest car around... hell, he is still in the mid 10's, but he won more titles last season because he was always right around the 10.30-10.50 mark.

Bryan-top fuel dragsters dont use nitrous, they use Nitro Methane and a supercharger.

The big guys dont use nitrous because they dont need to, 500 HP is enough for 9's in those tin cans on wheels, they just need to get the traction, which will enable them to get the power to the ground. Most of the people, like Bergenholtz/Kubo/Surawatari/etc. .Haven't changed much in there cars in the past year or so but the suspesion(and engine management). The reason no one was in the 9's was because people were more concerned with power than launch capability and traction, I think someone realized one day, hey our suspension does matter Another thing, ever see Papadakis run his car? That thing has way too much power, it runs massive slicks and still lays rubber down the entire track!

JR-yup, you are totally right, if you look at all the fast guys out there, who wins? The consistent ones, Surawatari isnt necessarily the fastest, but he wins because his team kicks ass and his car can make it through a day of running. Vinny Tens car, jeez, that thing broke every race, usually in the 1st or 2nd round. Same thing with a lot of the fast 4's out there, Viet Lam never won anything, he was the fastest usually, but always broke, same thing with (crap, cant remember his name at the moment, guy with old school teg that runs 10's?) anyway, he would always run a 10.5 in qualifying and then lose in the second round with a 14.XX....It isnt always the fastest that wins!

This makes me think that a decent suspension setup might be the next thing to do ???

yeah, back in the day all the top racers like Fuchs, Bergenholtz, Papadakis,etc. used to use nitrous with their turbos but they would only hit it in their top gears like 4th or 5th to get that extra top end and a little quicker e.t. Likes it's been said, nitrous is very inconsistent, and also can damage an engine if it isn't running right. Now, with the technology, racers are making enuff hp where they don't need nitrous.
